Day 2: Haifa

We continued our journey north to the city of Haifa, which is the coastal city outside the Carmel mountain range. Carmel is where the prophet Elijah challenged the 400 prophets of Baal to a dual of gods so to speak. If you remember, they both set up an altar to their god and which ever god was the real god would send down fire to burn up the sacrifice.

The Baal prophets cried out to their god, cut themselves and all kinds of things to get Baals attention, but nothing happened...Elijah quipped during the whole thing...maybe your god is sleeping and needs to be awakened...maybe your god is going to the bathroom...you know, it can happen!:)

Of course, when Elijah prayed to the Lord God Almighty, fire came down and destroyed the whole altar and everyone realized who the real God was...

Well, while we were in Haifa, we saw the Bahai gardens...not much for their faith system, but their garden is beautiful...sheer cliffs are in this town and they built high rise apartments on these sheer cliffs, amazing engineering!

Then we were off to our next stop, which also included dinner...the Yonay Farms...I'll speak about that next time...

  1. I am loving your blog. Thanks for keeping us all informed. I also really enjoy your Biblical facts. It is fun to realize how many amazing things really happened and it's cool that you are able to see the places for yourselves.
